Innova Pig Review | Putt & Approach Disc

Innova’s Pig shines through when used as an approach disc. This disc feels good in the hand, has a soft grip, and a nice thumbtrack.

It has a straight flight path with confident fade that is perfect for intermediate players. The Pig is also great for experienced players who need a reliable putter or approach disc.

Some reviewers say that the Pig flies predictably and performs pretty well in most weather conditions. But let’s take a look ourselves.

Innova Pig Putt & Approach

The Pig is an overstable Putt & Approach disc that will get you out of trouble on any hole. It’s great for hyzer putting, sidearm approaches and backhand spikes.

The Thumtrac Rim allows sure grip when throwing with either hand so it can be used equally well by backhand or forehand throwers.

It does NOT glide, and is a good disc to use when you need it to ‘stick’ to the ground below the pin.

Innova Pig Flight Path

  • Speed: 4.0
  • Glide: 1.0

  • Fade: 3.0

From the numbers, we can see that the Pig has some low glide, and it’s going to hook really fast.

In terms of stability, the Pig is an overstable putter that will fight headwinds regardless if you’re RHBH or LHFH.

No need to worry about an accidental anhyzer!

Best type of throws for the Innova Pig

(Best Choice for: Hyzer putting, Windy putts, Reliable approach shots)

Hyzer Putting

If you’re looking for an approach disc for hyzer putting, the Innova Pig just might be the disc to pick up.

With a 0 turn and 3 fade, the Pig is designed to hyzer quick.

Be mindful of it’s 1 rated glide though, it tends to drop quicker than expected.

Windy Putts

With the 3 fade, the Pig makes itself super reliable in the wind.

A disc that will not turn over with 20 mph wind gusts on the course, the Pig is definitely a reliable putter you can bag for windy day upshots.

Reliable Approach Shots

150 feet or less is where this disc makes its money.

The Pig holds very nicely on a ranged down power grip for most intermediate & advanced players.

It can be a really nice forehand flick for the intermediate and advanced player.

If you’re looking to cut back on potential rollaways, this disc does nicely.

Similar Discs to the Innova Pig

There are a few commonalities between the Pig and other popular overstable putters on the market.

Most noticeably, people often ask how does the Pig compare to the Zone, Ryhno and Berg.

While all of these discs are similar in flight path, they each have their own pros and cons when compared to each other.

*I will be writing up a future article to cover this topic.
